School Nursing Team

Throughout the academic year, a member of the School Nursing Team is available during the school day. Our School Nurse, Andrea Eid, is supported by Healthcare Assistant Catharine Russell, the Lead School Nurse for the Trust, Julia Parsons, and numerous qualified first aiders.

The core role of the team is to care for pupils who are injured or unwell by holistically assessing their medical needs and providing the appropriate treatment and advice to enable them to return to school life. Alternatively, it may be necessary for the team to organise the collection of a pupil from school or for the referral to further medical care.

Our School Nursing Team understands the dynamic process of interaction between the child in the school community and the family. Therefore, they aim to develop strong communication links with parents to provide health advice, signposting, support with medical needs and to assist with the management of the recovery process.

Our school nurse works closely with teaching staff and the core pastoral and safeguarding teams, committing a collaborative approach to ensure the health, wellbeing and safety of our pupils.

As it is of fundamental importance to the growth and development of a child, the School Nursing Team also assist with the promotion of good health, healthy lifestyles and positive wellbeing.

The Trust works alongside Return 2 Play, a specialist head injury and concussion care service. This doctor-led medical team are on hand to ensure pupils in Year 6 or above receive prompt attention and guidance throughout their recovery period.
