Years 7-9

Key Stage 3 (Years 7–9)
Key Stage 3 is an exciting and formative stage in Senior School, designed to help pupils grow in confidence, broaden their knowledge and skills, and prepare for the choices they will make at Key Stage 4.
Year 7: settling into Senior School
Year 7 marks the transition from Junior to Senior School. Subtle changes to uniform and timetable help pupils recognise this step up and take pride in their new stage of learning.
To support a smooth start, pupils begin the year with team‑building activities, helping both new and existing pupils to form friendships and build a strong sense of community.
All pupils also start learning Spanish, alongside their continued broad curriculum.
Year 8: building knowledge and making first choices
In Year 8, pupils continue with the full suite of Key Stage 3 subjects, but for modern languages they make their first choice:
- French or Spanish
This enables them to focus and make further progress in their chosen language.
Year 9: exploring future pathways
Year 9 provides pupils with the opportunity to experience subjects that form part of our GCSE/BTEC offer but are not taught earlier in the school, including:
- Animal Care
- Media Studies
Throughout the year, pupils take part in talks, activities, and guidance interviews to help them make informed choices for Key Stage 4.
